Energy Conservation Products That Put Money in Your Pocket

Energy conservation products are designed to reduce the quantity of electricity, gas etc. used by your household. For example, you can install compact fluorescent bulbs or even skylights and achieve the same level of illumination as incandescent lights. In addition to energy conservation products, there are also new building and landscaping techniques that will help you save energy in your home.

Energy conservation has a huge impact on your utility bills, and also on the environment. Equipping your home with energy efficient products is becoming one of the best ways to save the earth and thousands of dollars as energy costs increase and the world’s resources shrink. Conservation is no longer an option; it’s now a necessity. There are several ways to save energy: even when you buy energy conservation products you should still perform regular maintenance checks, and you should use only Energy Star® qualified products.

Lighting is one of the most important energy conservation products: an Energy Star certified compact fluorescent light bulb will save quite a bit of money over its lifetime and pay for itself in just a few months. Once the electricity starts to flow, CFL’s use about 75 percent less energy than regular bulbs. When you shop, look for the bulbs with the light output you need, and then pick the ones with the lowest wattage.

Refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and the other major appliances in your home also make up a large portion of your electricity bill. Besides looking for the Energy Star label, make sure you get the right size product to suit your needs. Outsized appliances waste energy, and in many cases they don’t perform as well. Energy-efficient appliances cost more at the outset, but they’ll save you money in the long run.

To save energy, water and natural resources, you need only make small changes in the way you shop, and in the way you behave.
