Eco Paints – Two Must Have Products That Promote a Healthy Environment

With effects ranging from ozone depletion to smog to global warming, the release of volatile organic compounds is dangerous for the environment. However, painting experts maintain that regardless of what marketers say, eco paints without VOC’s don’t perform as well as paints that have them. As a homeowner, you’ll need to start asking yourself if you want the interior of your home to look perfect, or whether you prefer to stay healthy.

Here are two green paint products you can use to create a beautiful décor in your home:

  1. Low VOC paint

Recent government decisions have drawn notice to the frightening situation of poisons and VOC’s in paints, and have put into place some controls. The response has been for several paint companies to create eco-friendly paints that contain either low or zero VOC’s. However, only a few companies produce eco paints exclusively. When selecting paint colors, you should know that modern eco-friendly paints could come in any color and although a bit more expensive, have very low odor and no VOC’s.

  1. Water-based paint

Preservatives are only required in water based eco paints at very low levels. The preservatives are to stop the paint from spoiling in the tub, and also to stop contamination in the manufacturing plant. Once on the wall, preservatives are not required, unless the room is prone to damp. Most water based paints do not pose a hazard to health, especially in relation to other threats in our environment, particularly moulds, dust mites and toxins from other materials in buildings.

Eco friendly paint takes additional time and research just to find the paint itself. Eco paints are safer for the environment than most commonly used paints. They make the air safer for everyone, and they are less noxious and less likely to cause allergic reactions in people with multiple chemical sensitivities.
